scusate se la domanda sembrerà banale, ma vorrei chiedere le pricipali differenze tra un disco ATA ed un EIDE e quale mi consigliate di installare su una MB ASUS A7V400 e se potete anche che tipo di ram posso utilizzare?
grazie

IDE and EIDE are now outdated names.
IDE = Integrated (IBM?) Disk Electronics
EIDE = Enhanced IDE
EIDE came out about 1994 thanks to Western Digital. This was due mostly to a delay in the new ATA-2 standard being delayed, and WD couldn't sit around any longer. EDIE implamented new features, including ATA-2 (faster speed), ATAPI (allowed non-hard disk devices to run on the IDE channels), and two host adapters as opposed to one (for a maximum of 4 drives on a controller). Basically all those things were done to the normal IDE interface shortly after ATA-2 was adopted and IDE and EIDE basically did the same thing. How's that for confusing? :eek:
Anyways today WD is pretty much the only company to still call things 'EIDE', even though EIDE and IDE are not only backwards compatible, but are pretty much the same thing! Your cables, drive, and controller should work fine.
