Cambiare hostname

Buongiorno a tutti!
Dopo le mie innumerevoli richieste su Windows, ho deicso di installare anche linux :D e quindi passo su questo forum!
La mia è una domanda mooolto banale:
Ho installato la red hat 9 e il PC si è brillantemente collegato in rete.
Il problema è che il DNS server gli ha dato un IP e il nome macchina di un'altro PC (almeno credo)!?!
Come lo cambio?
Ho provato con il comando hostname ma nel prompt non vedo cambiamenti!

midifica il contenuto del file /etc/hostname, cosi la modifica persisterà ad ogni riavvio ;)

no, può darsi che la tua distro lo tenga da un'altra parte. Che distro usi?

Il faut être toujours ivre. Tout est là : c'est l'unique question. Pour ne pas sentir l'horrible fardeau du Temps qui brise vos épaules et vous penche vers la terre,il faut vous enivrer sans trêve...
